How Does Our Full QC System Ensure Consistent Quality Of Every Busbar Batch?

For electric vehicle battery systems and power distribution equipment, initial quality is not the only criterion, batch to batch consistency is equally critical. Hidden variation in a single production lot can cause problems in assembly, issues in the field or even safety concerns. This is the reason why a comprehensive quality control system should be implemented throughout the entire process of busbar production, rather than only at the end. At Kinto, our comprehensive QC procedure combines incoming inspection, in process monitoring, end product testing and ongoing improvement all within one streamlined process. This ensures all of our copper busbars, aluminum busbars, laminated shunts and flexible insulated busbars are exactly the same as the previous batch you ordered.

Strict Incoming Material Verification

Uniform busbars are made using uniform raw materials. Every coil of copper or aluminum is checked against certified mill test reports at our receiving dock, which forms the initial part of our QC system. All materials undergo checks for dimensional tolerances, hardness, electrical conductivity and surface condition checks before entering our production facility. Lots that don't conform to our standards are quarantined and sent home right away. This is a preventive measure to remove the common source of variation of electrical components. We also assess adhesive properties and specifications of insulation materials as applicable to laminated busbars. From the outset, Kinto minimizes the variability by controlling the inputs.

Real Time In Process Controls

It's too late to discover defects at the final inspection to be cost effective with quality. High precision machines that measure continuously during production are installed in our machining centres. We perform real-time monitoring of critical parameters like hole positions, edge radii, flatness and plating thickness. Each parameter is tracked using statistical process control chart and production is halted by automated alarm when a parameter starts falling out of the tolerance zone. Real time feedback enables our operators to modify tooling, feed or the flow of coolant in real time, thus avoiding an entire batch being "out of spec". This proactive control is the key to maintaining consistency in unique geometries or extremely tight tolerances, or it can mean expensive rework.

Comprehensive Final Testing with Full Documentation

Every busbar out of our doors goes through a full complement of final testing. Every part is given a unique batch number which is carried through the stamping process, the drilling process, the plating process and the assembly process. Final testing consists of micro ohm measurements of contact resistance, voltage withstand testing of insulated busbars and dimensional verification using coordinate measuring machines. The thickness of the plating is verified by X-ray fluorescence analysis. All results are recorded and linked to the batch traceability code. We can provide the exact test data, machine set-up and operator logs for any particular shipment if they need to be retrieved for review by your engineering team. This documentation not only supports for internal audit but also is the guarantee of this consistent quality for each batch of busbar production.

Continuous Improvement Loops That Strengthen Future Batches

Finally, a static QC system becomes unfit for the future as customer requirements change and production quantities fluctuate. Analysis of all non conformances (both detected internally and reported by your team) is a critical part of our quality policy process. Corrective actions are documented and used throughout all production lines as a result of root cause investigations. This translates into a capability that is enhanced for all future orders in the factory, by learning a lesson from one busbar design. We monitor important measures of quality like first pass yield and defects per million opportunities. These metrics are used to guide quarterly management reviews and annual improvement projects. Kinto isn't just a slogan when it comes to continuous monitoring in the manufacturing process. It is how we enhance production capacity, reduce manufacturing time and provide busbars that far surpass your expectations with every batch. A complete QC,from the first minute to the millionth is the only solution, and we have created a QC system that you can trust in each and every order.
