Kinto was pleased to welcome the team from Sunswap, a UK-based manufacturer of electric transport refrigeration technology, to our manufacturing facility in China on July 31, 2026.
The visit provided an opportunity for both teams to strengthen communication, review manufacturing capabilities, and exchange views on custom electrical components for electrified applications.
Sunswap develops battery- and solar-powered transport refrigeration systems designed to support the transition toward zero-emission cold-chain transportation. The company has expanded its operations across the UK and international markets as demand for electric refrigeration technology continues to grow.
Factory Tour and Manufacturing Capability Review
During the visit, the Sunswap team toured Kinto's manufacturing facility and gained a closer understanding of our production processes and quality management systems.
The factory tour covered key stages of custom busbar manufacturing, including material preparation, precision machining, forming, insulation, plating, assembly, and quality inspection.
For custom electrical components, manufacturing capability is only one part of the equation. Consistent dimensional accuracy, material control, process stability, and inspection capability are equally important when components need to integrate into complex electrical and mechanical systems.
The visit therefore provided an opportunity for the Sunswap team to see how Kinto manages these requirements throughout the manufacturing process.
Engineering Discussion on Custom Busbar Solutions
In addition to the factory tour, the two teams held technical and engineering discussions around custom busbar requirements.

For electrified equipment, busbars need to balance several factors, including electrical performance, available installation space, mechanical configuration, thermal management, connection design, and manufacturability.
Depending on the application, different solutions may be considered, including rigid copper busbars, flexible busbars, insulated busbars.
Kinto's engineering team works with customers from the early design stage to review drawings and identify potential manufacturing challenges before production begins. Through DFM review, prototype development, testing, and production validation, the objective is to develop a solution that meets both the customer's technical requirements and manufacturing requirements.
Building Stronger International Customer Relationships
Face-to-face factory visits provide an important opportunity to develop closer relationships between engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams.
For international OEM projects, direct communication can help both sides better understand technical requirements, production expectations, quality standards, and project objectives.
It also allows customers to evaluate the manufacturing environment directly and gain a better understanding of the processes behind the components they source.
For Kinto, customer visits are an important part of building long-term partnerships rather than simply supplying individual components.

Supporting the Growth of Electrification
The visit also reflects the broader development of electrification across transportation and industrial applications.
As companies such as Sunswap continue to develop electric solutions for commercial transportation, the demand for reliable and precisely engineered electrical components is also increasing.
Busbars play an important role in these systems by providing compact and reliable electrical connections between batteries, power electronics, and other electrical components.
Kinto continues to invest in engineering, manufacturing and quality capabilities to support customers developing next-generation electrified products.

Kinto Engineering Perspective
At Kinto, we believe that successful OEM partnerships begin with early communication and close engineering collaboration.
A factory visit allows customers to move beyond drawings and specifications and gain a practical understanding of manufacturing processes, quality controls, and engineering capabilities.
We are pleased to welcome Sunswap to Kinto and look forward to strengthening our cooperation in the future. Through continuous technical communication and manufacturing collaboration, Kinto aims to support Sunswap and other international customers with reliable, customized busbar solutions for electrified applications.
We look forward to building stronger partnerships and creating more opportunities for innovation together.
